A Passion For Music
Learning to play as he was learning to walk
Benji Maxwell was born into a music-loving family in Melbourne, where instruments were as much a part of the household as the furniture. By the age of four, he was picking up anything that made a sound, guitar, drums, and eventually the piano. Completely self-taught, Benji discovered a natural ear for music and an ability to play songs after hearing them just once.
The young entertainer
Even as a toddler, Benji had a knack for making people laugh and a flair for performance. Family gatherings became his first “shows,” and it wasn’t long before his quick wit, big personality, and growing talent set him apart. At just 16, he stepped onto the stage professionally for the first time, and he hasn’t looked back since.
The human jukebox
Over the years, Benji’s incredible musical memory earned him the nickname “The Human Jukebox.” Known for taking (almost) any request and playing it on the spot, he built a reputation as one of the youngest and most exciting piano bar entertainers on the circuit. His high-energy performances, warm stage presence, and ability to read the room made a favourite.
Back at home
When he’s not on stage, Benji loves heading out on the kayak to fish on the lake, spending time with his family and friends, and hanging out with his groodle, Millie. He shares a home in Melbourne with his partner and when he’s not listening and writing music, he’s cheering on the Bombers.
